Thanksgiving at Deserted Cal Poly Pomona

26 11 2009

I fly out to San Francisco for Thanksgiving tomorrow afternoon. Throughout this whole week people have been rushing out of their dorms and to their homes for extended Thanksgiving vacations. While about 90% of the Montecito residents are long gone, I am stuck here on a Wednesday night, doing laundry and packing for my flight tomorrow. I’ll be home just in time for dinner tomorrow.

I absolutely cannot wait for Monday, December 14th, 2009. That night, I will be at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium (Yes, in San Francisco) with 2 college friends, 1 high school friend, and 1 little cousin, and the four of us will be screaming at the top of our lungs: “GAGA! GAGA!” Yes, I am going to Lady Gaga’s concert, The Monster Ball. My friends agreed that we would wear something out-of-this-worldly and that screams “Gaga”. I decided to buy a few hula hoops, nails, and cardboard, and make myself an Orbit, as seen in Gaga’s “Bad Romance” video (the big metal rings that look like they’re orbiting her). If that’s too hard, I may just make a small one to wear on my head.

UPDATE: My mother put my foot down with regards to me taking my 13-year old cousin to a rather exotic show, so now she can’t go. This means I have one extra ticket. Any takers? I’ll sell you a ticket for $48

Cool Cats at Cal Poly

The one thing I love most about college – no high school drama. Everyone here has bigger things on their mind than worrying about who’s dating who and who’s cheating on who with who or who’s trying to fight who. The friends I made at Cal Poly are surprisingly not from an introverted crowd. I found that I am much more comfortable around people when I have freedom to express myself in whatever manner I want.  The friends I made here at Cal Poly make me feel that comfortable, and it’s awesome knowing people got my back.

My name is Oscar Luna. I will be posting whenever I can so you can follow me on my amazing adventures as a Nor-Cal college student in So-Cal. I have to keep this short because I have History of Modern Civilizations (Sorry Calarco, we’re not reading Zinn) from 7 to 8:50PM tonight. After that, my weekend begins.
